#SebSuggests the Kodak Playsport

Before we start with this, I will tell you that a lovely marketing agency sent me this camera for free. There were no requirements for me to say certain things about the camera or to portray it in a certain light. I’ve chosen to review the camera and feature it on my blog. I have not been paid for this post nor am I going to be.

Hello friends old and new, welcome to Sebbywood.com! Today I’m reviewing the Kodak Playsport which is a consumer level, rugged HD video camera aimed at the active market boasting it can handle up to 10 feet / 3 meters underwater.

I received it a fortnight ago to the day, and I have to say I’ve carried it around with me everywhere I’ve been in those two weeks. I love love love this camera. From the way it looks to the quality it produces I love it – let’s look at specific sections individually…

LOOKS: Coming in 4 different colours, the Playsport is a sexy little number, much nicer to look at that a Flip HD with its flippy outy USB crapy thing! Its got clear concise buttons, sturdy slots for USB / HDMI and Battery / SD card.

FEEL: It feels sturdy and rugged in your hands, has slight rubber grips on the sides making it easier to hold and feels like a solid unit.

CONTROLS: The menu is simple, very simple – perhaps too simple… but this isn’t a prosumer or professional camera, this is a consumer level product, so doesn’t really need that many controls.

CONNECTIVITY: The camera comes with a HDMI cable which is sweet for the low price tag, it’s just a shame that the charge/connection cable isn’t the standard USB cable but a special shape.

OUTPUT: The quality of video is superb in daylight / studio lighting. Darker scenes the quality differs from acceptable to some scenes which you wouldn’t believe are HD, 720p let alone 1080p.

OVERALL: The camera is bloody amazing, for the RRP of £129.99 its brilliant, and I know I’l be using this camera personally for a lot of things, including filming all my radio show goings on for BIG IN WIGAN TV. I’l also be recommending it to all my clients to use for video assets for their social media content!
