Top Fives: 90′s Nickelodeon Shows

Here is my list of my favourite Top Five shows from the 90′s on Nickelodeon… In reverse order.
CatDog is a show about an animal with two front ends and no back ends. One end is Cat, the other Dog. They follow classic double act rules – one is clever and moody, the other is dumb and happy. They teach each other live lessons, getting into crazy escapades and generally have a gay old time.
This also has an amazing theme tune:

Arnold is a fourth grader in Hillwood, helping is school mates with problems. He has an American football shaped head. Slightly childish, but very well written. My favourite character, unsurprisingly, is Helga – She’s secretly in love with Arnold, but is mean mean mean and bossy bossy bossy to his face. My kind of woman.
The theme NEEDS to be remixed, it’s amazing:

Following roughly the same double act personality traits as CatDog, Clever and slightly grumpy Rocko has moved from Australia to America, and made friends with Heffer who takes the dumb, happy go lucky role. It’s funny and laced with adult humour and intellectual jokes. Great to watch as a kid, and rewatch as an adult.
The theme tune first time round was a bit of a disaster, but the second reworking of it was a triumph! Have a listen to the opening and credits:

Kenan and Kel are the ultimate double act. Yes, they stick to the double act formula, but just add amazingness to the table. They were true slapstick geniuses of their time. Being known for loving his orange soda, Kel is the unwitting fool to Kenan’s usually get quick rich schemes, which obviously go horribly wrong.
Sometimes compared to the modern day Nickelodeon version of them, Drake and Josh, they are – in my eyes – incomparable. Have a look below.
Easily has the best theme tune of the selection, performed by Coolio:

This had to be my number 1 favourite 90′s Nickelodeon show. It stars Melissa Joan Hart as the funny, witty, adorably cute Clarissa who was always being adventurous and planning her life. Her plans would be spoilt by her younger brother, who she would gain to seek revenge from over and over in various humiliatingly clever ways.
This show taught me life lessons, made me laugh, and got me hooked on powerful women from a young age. It was also from this point on I vowed to follow my first crush, MJH, throughout her career.
A fun pop theme for a fun show with a fun, sexy, dreamy lead actress….
